Thomas More's Moss Wins WBCA Player of the Year Award
Thomas More College junior Sydney Moss continues to earn multiple awards and accolades for her basketball ability as she completed the sweep of the NCAA Division III Player of Year honors on Monday night as she was named the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Player of the Year at the fifth annual WBCA Awards show in Tampa, Florida. The event is part of the WBCA National Convention and is held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four.
Moss now holds all three Division III National Player of the Year awards, including the D3Hoops.com Player of the Year and the Women's DIII News Player of the Year awards. She was also named a First Team All-American by three organizations and was the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year.
Moss scored the most points per game in the nation, tallying 24.2 points per game and ranked third in triple doubles, including one in the NCAA Division III Championship game. She ranked in the Top-100 in five other statistical categories, finishing 16th in assists turnover ratio (2.29), 45th in field goal percentage (51.8), 46th in three-point field goal percentage (38.4), 66th in double doubles (12) and 98th in assists per game (4.0). She also led the Saints in rebounds with 7.6, blocked 18 shots and recorded 60 steals. During the NCAA postseason, Moss broke the NCAA all-division women's or men's tournament scoring record as she racked up 197 points in the Saints' six tournament games.
Thomas more posted its first undefeated season going 33-0 en route to the first national championship in Thomas More basketball history.
