Thomas More Slugger Wins National Awards
Thomas More College baseball player Donovan Pogue has earned two national weekly awards this week thanks to his work at the plate.
Pogue, a junior designated hitter, was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division III National Hitter of the Week and was named to the D3Baseball.com National Teams of the Week. Pogue hit .667 (12 of 18) with two home runs, four doubles, 19 runs batted in and nine runs scored last week. The Saints were a perfect 5-0 during the week and are in the midst of a 14-game winning streak. The Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Hitter of the Week also accumulated four walks and finished the week with a .696 on-base percentage. Pogue also had a 1.222 slugging percentage.
Pogue and Thomas More College return to the diamond on Friday, April 10 when they open a three-game series against Grove City with a single nine-inning game at 4:00 p.m. in Grove City, Pennsylvania.
