Stroke Awareness Event This Friday in Florence
Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital at Florence will be hosting a Stroke Awareness and Education event on Friday, May 15 as part of their monthly Wellness Club to provide resources, education and support to those affected by, or at risk for, this serious illness.
Dr. Kenneth Mook, medical director at Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurologic Surgery, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the University of Louisville School of Medicine, will be on hand to discuss the condition, warning signs, as well as therapeutic treatments and clinical dietician Ginger Grey will give an overview on nutrition and other healthy lifestyle choices for stroke prevention. Additionally, Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital nurses and therapists will be at the event to provide blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, facilitate a stroke risk factor quiz, and provide community resources for stroke survivors.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital at 5940 Merchants Street in Florence.
