NKU Fires Softball Coach After Only 11 Wins in 87 Games
Another coaching change is announced in Highland Heights.
Northern Kentucky Director of Athletics Ken Bothof fired Kathy Stewart as head coach of the Norse softball program.
NKU finished its season with a record of 6-42 and a 20-game losing streak. Over the past two seasons, the Norse have a combined record of 11-87.
"Following a thorough review of the softball program over the last two years, I have decided a change in leadership is necessary," said Bothof, in an announcement. "I want to thank Kathy for her dedication to Norse softball."
"Kathy devoted much of herself to the softball program and the student-athletes during her tenure at NKU," said Associate Athletic Director and softball sport supervisor Chris Hafling. "We wish Kathy well."
Bothof previously fired men's basketball coach Dave Bezold and replaced him with Alabama assistant John Brannen.
The Norse announced earlier this month that it would move to the Horizon League from the Atlantic Sun Conference starting next season.
A national search for the softball vacancy will begin immediately, a news release said.
