Braxton Takes Home Top Prize in Startup Brewery Challenge

Braxton Brewing Company has won Brewbound’s Startup Brewery Challenge. Braxton’s team will now have the opportunity to meet and brew with the Widmer Brothers team in Portland, Oregon. This collaboration will be served in Northern Kentucky.

CEO and Co-Founder, Jake Rouse, presented to a crowd of 170 conference attendees that included brewery professionals, craft brewers, industry experts, and thought leaders.

“This challenge put us against five other craft breweries focusing on our brand, our story, and of course, our beer,” said Rouse. “We couldn't be more excited to accept this honor as a team.”

The panel of five judges featured: Karmen Olson, Senior Manager of Emerging Business at Craft Brew Alliance; Ben Dobler, Brewing Innovation Manager at Craft Brew Alliance; Doug Dayhoff, President at Upland Brewing Company; Michael Kiser, Founder of Good Beer Hunting; and Pat Brophy, Beer Buyer at Binny’s Beverage Depot.

The judges also tasted a beer from each of the six craft breweries that presented. After presentations, the judges deliberated, and the crowd – both in attendance and online – was encouraged to vote. In addition to being honored by the judges, Braxton also won the fan vote.
