Night of the 1980's to Benefit Highlands Theatre Program
Highlands Theatre Boosters: Standing Room Only (SRO) presents its sixth annual fundraiser “A Taste of the Season” at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Fort Thomas Mess Hall.
The Eighties-themed evening includes a preview of the Highlands High School 2015-2016 theater season (beginning at 7:15 p.m.), a buffet dinner, ‘80s music by Johnny B. Dance Party DJ, a silent auction and wine, bourbon and craft beer tastings.
The evening benefits the Highlands High School and Highlands Middle School Drama and Performing Arts programs. SRO supports the programs with funds and resources throughout the year and offers two annual scholarships to graduating seniors.
Highlands High School has been getting a lot of applause – student written and produced one-acts have been accepted in three of the last five Cincinnati Fringe Festivals as part of FringeNext; Cappies Awards include best critic team and best marketing/publicity for three years running and Best Musical for Aida in 2013.
Jason Burgess, theatre program director and recipient of the 2012 Theatre Educator Award from the League of Cincinnati Theatres, explains “Our goal is to provide excellent opportunities for young theatre artists to develop their skills in performance and production throughout and beyond the school year and school population, to learn from each other, and to begin networking for future collaborations and projects.”
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. To purchase online visit www.showtix4u.com (search: A Taste of The Season Event, Ft. Thomas, Ky.) For questions, e-mail [email protected].
The Mess Hall is located at 801 Cochran St. in Ft. Thomas.
