Photos: Historic Caboose in Erlanger Heads Off to Be Preserved
The red caboose which was donated to the Erlanger Historical Society before the turn of the century was found to be in need of restoration if it is to last another century.
The caboose settled in at Depot Park, beside the train depot which is home to the Erlanger Historical Society.
Progress Rail in Covington offered to restore the little red caboose for no charge, so Wednesday the little caboose that could found itself airlifted, with the help of Maxim, Inc., over the depot museum and the picnic shelter to a waiting tractor trailer which transported it down to Progress Rail.
The Erlanger Volunteer Fire Department is raising money to give the caboose an update on the inside when it returns to Depot Park.
