Guy With Gun, Crack Cocaine Robs Covington Store; 2nd Suspect Sought

One man is behind bars and a second is sought after an early morning robbery of a Covington gas station.

The Circle K store on Fourth Street was hit by two men at around 2 a.m. The suspects, wearing masks, were observed by Covington Police as they exited the store and fled.

An officer pursued the pair as Kenton Count6y Dispatch issued an alert that the store reported a robbery.

One suspect was caught on the 400 block of Russell Street. Shawndale Hogan, 21, discared a bag with items from the store and was also in possession of a handgun and what is believed to be crack cocaine, police said in a news release.

A second suspect got away and is believed to be armed. That suspect is described as a black male who stands at about 6-feet tall with a thin build. He was photographed from the back by a surveillance camera (image below). Anyone with information should call Covington Police at 859.292.2297 or Kenton Co. Dispatch at 859.356.3191.

Hogan, meanwhile, is in the Kenton County Detention Center where he faces charges of first degree robbery, second degree fleeing/evading, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first degree possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence. He is also listed as a fugitive from another state and is being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in court next week.
