Photos: Hoxworth Blood Drive at Newport High School
Twice a year, Newport High School hosts Hoxworth for an in-house blood drive. On Monday, Hoxworth set up in the high school gymnasium and 43 students, teachers and administrators volunteered to give blood, including Superintendent Kelly Middleton.. Of those 43 volunteers, 33 were able to donate.
The blood drive is an all day event at Newport High School. It is a big deal to the students and they enjoy participating. They know they are contributing to saving lives and can even find out which local hospital their blood is going to.
If a student gives four times during their high school career they receive a cord to wear at graduation. They also get the opportunity for scholarships through Hoxworth.
