Over 20 YA Novelists Will Be in Erlanger on October 24
On Saturday, October 24 over 20 authors of young adult fiction will be at the Erlanger Branch of the Kenton County Public Library for the inaugural NK-YA Fest. The event will take place from 1-4 p.m.
There is no entry fee, but registration is requested by going to the event webpage at http://www.kentonlibrary.org/teens/nk-ya-fest.
The event looks to celebrate all things teen and young adult in literature. However, the event is not solely for teens says Eden Grey, Young Adult Librarian at the Erlanger Branch. “While the focus of this event is for teens, we realize that many adults also read young adult fiction,” said Grey. “YA, or young adult fiction, is the most popular trend in fiction right now and it's something we're especially passionate about at the library.”
Northern Kentucky's first ever Young Adult author fest came about from the interest of local authors in connecting with youth and fans in the area. With the strong community of authors in the Ohio and Kentucky area, it's a great way to get readers of all ages face to face with their favorite authors. Campbell and Boone County Public Libraries are partners for the event, along with Joseph Beth Booksellers, who will be on hand to sell books. KCPL was one of 10 national recipients of a Dollar General Literacy Grant through YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) for this event.
Starting at 1 p.m. guests will be able to meet the authors during three small group sessions. At 2 p.m. Q&A Tables will open up where participants can ask questions of all the authors during three small group Q&A sessions. At 3 p.m. authors will be available to sign books. Books may be purchased at the event from Joseph Beth Booksellers or guests can bring up to five personal copies to be signed. Those bringing their own books much check in with a library staff member upon entering the signing session. Line priority will be given to attendees purchasing books.
