Newport-based Animal Adoption Program Awarded $13,900 Grant

Newport-based Stray Animal Adoption Program recently received a $13,900 grant award for their participation in the Petco Foundation’s nationwide adoption event. 

Nearly 14,000 pets found homes during the Petco Foundation’s adoption event, celebrating Petco’s 50th Anniversary. The weekend event, held October 3 and 4, showcased pets available for adoption from local animal welfare organizations at Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores across the country. Stray Animal Adoption Program placed an impressive 89 pets in just two days.

Furthering its commitment to adoption programs in the community, the Petco Foundation awarded between $50 and $100 grants for participating organizations that achieved five or more adoptions that weekend. In recognition of their social media efforts, the Stray Animal Adoption Program will receive an additional Social Media Adoption Celebration Champion runner-up grant award of $5,000, plus an adoption bonus, for a total of $13,900.

To recognize the Stray Animal Adoption Program’s achievements in the nationwide adoption event, an award ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 1 p.m. at the Petco located at 7769 5 Mile Road in Anderson Township. This ceremony will coincide with their adoption event, which is held weekly at the 5 Mile location on Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
