East Row Historic District to Host Home Tour in Newport
The East Row Historic Foundation will hold their annual Victorian Christmas Home Tour, a time-honored tradition that for many signals the beginning of the holiday season, this weekend in Newport.
The East Row Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the second largest historic district in Kentucky. This year’s tour is from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, December 5-6, in the East Row Historic District in Newport.
Among this year’s highlights are:
• An Italianate Mansion that once hosted such greats as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Marilyn Monroe.
• A classic America Foursquare that was a recent recipient of a River Cities Preservation Award.
• A recently restored Queen Anne cottage, featuring a period-inspired kitchen
Tour tickets are now available to be purchased online in advance for $16 at www.east-row.org. On tour days, tickets are $18 per person and will be available for sale during tour hours at The Carnegie Event Center, 403 Monmouth Street. Children aged 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
A portion of the proceeds from the tour will benefit three northern Kentucky charities: St. John's Food Pantry, Holy Spirit Outreach, and the Newport Parks Renaissance Commission.
