Newport Hotel Undergoing $1.5 Million Renovation
A $1.5 million renovation has begun at the Comfort Suites in Newport.
Enhancements will include upgrade of public areas as well as all 124 guest suites with new casegoods, lighting, and carpeting. In addition, five new guest suites will be added and the exterior of the six-story building will be painted.
“We are modernizing our curb appeal, as well as the look and the comfort of our interior spaces, so we can even better meet the expectations of our guests -- including corporate clients, business travelers, baby boomers, millennials, seniors, and families,” said Joanna Lewellan, Vice President of Operations for Banyan.
The property will continue to operate during the renovation, with work progressing in strategic phases and affecting only a limited area of the property at any given time.
“Our hotel has been an important local resource since 1997 for both travelers and residents,” added Mrs. Lewellan. “It will now be an even more distinctive spot where business can be conducted and where memorable community and family events can be held in comfort and style.”
The renovation is expected to be completed by May of 2016.
The Comfort Suites was acquired in August of 2015 by Atlanta-based Banyan Investment Group and Investra Investments. Banyan owns and operates a portfolio of 21 hotels in eight states, while Investra manages a commercial real estate portfolio with more than $500 million in assets in the United Kingdom and the United States.
