Truck Strikes Newport Underpass, Closes Monmouth Street
A semi truck's haul was knocked to the road when the driver struck the underpass on Monmouth Street near the former Trauth Dairy plant operated.
The accident closed northbound Monmouth Street (US 27) and forced police to re-route traffic to 12th Street. One lane southbound remained open.
Officers and a tow truck driver had a mess on their hands as a heavy piece of the truck had been knocked off and lay in the road.
As of noon, the crash scene remained.
