Gateway College Recognizes Champions of Human Services
Gateway Community and Technical College has announced the winners of its annual awards in human services. Awards were presented to the following individuals on February 18 at Gateway.
The Outstanding Community Partner Award recipient was Carol Lampkin, MSSW, Director of Prevention Services, Family Nurturing Center. Lampkin received this award in recognition of her agency’s partnership and her work in developing Gateway Human Services students. Family Nurturing Center is a non-profit social service agency located in Northern Kentucky and Hamilton County, Ohio. This agency is dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse by promoting individual well-being and healthy family relationships. Family Nurturing Center is now hosting its fourth Gateway Human Services intern. Gateway appreciates their partnership in helping students reach their potential in human services.
Regina Owens received the 2014 Human Service program Outstanding Student Award for her determination to be of service to children. Owens was the first intern with the Family Nurturing Center and set the standard for those who follow. She graduated from Gateway with the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Human Services, enrolled in the social work program at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) and is graduating from NKU this spring.
Kylie Keene received the Make a Difference Award. Keene, Gateway Grants Project Manager, is a tremendous advocate for student success. She applied her skills as a social worker to assist over 60 Human Services students and hundreds of Gateway students who were part of the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG). Her compassion for students and commitment to their success has make a huge difference in many lives.
“Gateway Human Services is grateful to all of those who help prepare our students to serve their communities,” said Dr. Gregory Stewart, Human Services Program Coordinator.
