River City Development Job Opportunities: Dayton Main Street Manager, Catalytic Fund Officer Manager

There are a couple of new opportunities to work on development in the Northern Kentucky River Cities.

Two jobs are now available: Dayton Main Street Manager and Catalytic Fund Office Manager.

The Main Street Manager in Dayton will help lead the revitalization of the city's central business district and will report directly to the city administrator.

Under the supervision of the City Administrator, performs a variety of administrative, technical, and professional work in developing and implementing plans, policies, and programs to promote an increase in residential and commercial activity in the City of Dayton and related work as assigned.


  • Knowledge of modern office equipment, including computer applications and interpretations.  

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and attend seminars and workshops.  Position requires the ability to walk throughout the City and confer with residents and business owners on a daily basis.  

  • Expected to work closely with the City Administrator and members of the City’s Main Street Board, Board of Architectural Review and the Dayton Planning and Zoning Commission.


  • Directs community and economic development initiatives to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the Main Street Board’s annual action plan and the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

  • Provides assistance in the development of short and long term economic and community development plans focusing on the four points of Main Street, as well as the gathering of information and preparation of studies, reports, and recommendations to achieve such goals.

  • Prepares and maintains information on branding, marketing, project management, zoning, transportation, community services, financing tools, and incentives in order to respond to requests for information for economic development purposes, and the coordination with other departments and agencies as needed.    

  • Provides professional economic development advice, and serves as an advocate for community and economic development in line with the Comprehensive Plan, zoning ordinances, and goals as established by the City.  

  • Promotes the City’s Neighborhood Commercial District, Central Business District, and Industrial Zones, promoting the sale of lots, economic incentives, and long term visioning for these commercial areas.

  • Executes functions of the Community Commercial Advantage Program (CCAP) in the Central Business District to new and existing businesses.  

  • When required, represents the City in Main Street Board, Board of Architectural Review, Planning and Zoning Board, and City Council Meetings; and advises these groups on local and regional community development and Main Street initiatives.  


  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to function effectively with a minimum amount of supervision.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment requiring a high level of energy and imagination.  

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other government employees and the general public.  

  • Knowledge of marketing and retail, business administration, revitalization issues confronting downtown business people, property owners, public agencies and community organizations.


  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business or public administration, urban planning, or a related field.  

  • Valid Operator’s License and ability to submit to verification there are no violations deeming the employee as an unacceptable driver during three years prior to employment.  

  • Ability to submit to medical testing (including drug and alcohol), physical and psychological testing as required in the City of Dayton’s Personnel Policy.

Office Manager, Catalytic Fund
About The Catalytic Fund : 

The Catalytic Development Funding Corp. of Northern Kentucky (The Catalytic Fund) is a private sector, not for profit organization providing financing assistance and related services for developers of quality residential and commercial real estate projects in Northern Kentucky’s urban cities of Ludlow, Covington, Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton. Its mission is to accelerate Northern Kentucky’s urban renaissance though targeted investments in catalytic real estate development and redevelopment projects in urban neighborhoods and business districts.

Job Summary: 

The Office Manager reports to the President of The Catalytic Fund and is responsible for assisting staff with day-to-day operations of the organization. Primary responsibilities include coordinating meetings and events for the President and staff, managing basic human resource and bookkeeping functions, document preparation, office organization and upkeep, and supporting company initiatives. Secondary responsibilities include office technology and equipment coordination, management of outside contacts for services and equipment, assisting with fundraising, maintaining monthly staff meeting agendas, meeting minute taking, and staff support on consulting contracts. The Office Manager must also represent the organization in a professional manner at events and meetings both inside and outside the office.

The Office Manager role is approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday . Evening and weekend hours are very infrequent, but may occur.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliation and minor bookkeeping
  • Intake and distribute all mail sent to the organization
  • Provide support for external events such as Beyond the Curb, Realtor Roundtable, groundbreakings, open houses, etc.
  • Maintain monthly staff meeting agendas
  • Provide support for internal meetings such as Board of Directors, Investment Committee, etc.
  • Register and schedule Staff for external meetings and events
  • Maintain calendar of grant cycles of various foundations and funders
  • Coordinate equipment and technology maintenance
  • Ensure office supplies are stocked and available for staff use
  • Coordinate software updates and backups for office workstations
  • Maintain data and documentation for company office equipment and services Coordinate with IT consultants as needed
  • Schedule and coordinate office meeting rooms
  • Coordinate office supply orders
  • Manage print and binding of documents and publications
  • Organize files and server file system
  • Support organization’s CEO in all capacities needed
  • Human resource bookkeeping
  • Monitoring office phone lines

Qualifications and Experience: 
The Office manager should be a self-starter and capable of working independently to complete assignments, but should also be eager to take direction from staff. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, specifically Word and PowerPoint. Basic understanding of business principles and the Macintosh operating system is required. Ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail. Post-secondary coursework in administration is preferred.

Physical Requirements: 
Typical office building environment. Ability to sit, access file cabinets, and lift files required. Must be able to communicate verbally in person and on the telephone. May require travel by car to external meetings.
