NKU's Plitzuweit Named Head Coach at South Dakota
Northern Kentucky women's basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has been named the head coach at the University of South Dakota
"I'd like to thank Dawn for all that she has done for our student-athletes and NKU," said Ken Bothof, Director of Athletics. "I wish her nothing but the best in her new role."
A national search for the next head coach for NKU's women's basketball team will begin immediately.
"We have a great opportunity to hire the next coach for a program that has posted 33-consecutive winning seasons," said Bothof. "Our commitment to the success of our women's basketball program has never been greater. From salaries for a full compliment of coaches and support staff that are very competitive within the Horizon League to the state-of-the-art BB&T Arena and summer tours abroad, we have and will continue to provide our program with the resources necessary to be successful in the Horizon League and Division I landscape."
NKU is a program that is on the rise. Following a Division II tenure that included two National Championships (2000, 2008), the Norse have continued their winning traditions at the Division I level. Four-straight winning records since beginning the reclassification process all resulted in appearances in the Women's Basketball Invitational. Northern Kentucky will be eligible to compete in the NCAA Division I Tournament next season.
