Kenton Judge Stepping Aside for Medical Reasons
A Kenton County judge is retiring, citing medical reasons.
The Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission has accepted Family Court Judge Lisa Osborne Bushelman's request for temporary retirement for medical reasons. The decision was issued on Monday and is effective Tuesday through September 1.
Bushelman will still be paid through that date, the decision read. A call to Bushelman's office in Covington indicated that she likely would not be available for comment.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton will work with Kenton Circuit Judge Gregory Bartlett, the Chief Regional Circuit Judge, under the Regional Administration Charter to find coverage for Bushelman's dockets from among the sitting judges in the region, said Leigh Anne Hiatt, public information officer at the Administrative Office of the Courts, in an email to The River City News. "Chief Justice Minton also anticipates assigning retired judges to assist with covering Judge Bushelman's dockets," Hiatt said.
Bushelman was first elected to Kenton County Family Court in 2006. She was reelected in 2014.
