Photos: Parklets unCOVered in Downtown Covington
Families, residents, business owners, and visitors enjoyed a perfect afternoon of parklet hopping in downtown Covington on Friday.
Five new "parklets" made their debut on downtown streets - made possible by a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Bank/Haile Foundation awarded to Renaissance Covington for the project.
Parklets are designed to activate a parking space for pedestrian use, and there are now professionally designed installations in front of Left Bank Coffeehouse, Inspirado at Madison Gallery, Braxton Brewing Company, Cutman Barbershop, and Stoney's Village Toy Shoppe.
Friday's event featured city leaders, business owners, architects & designers, and lots of kids who were anxious to try out the new mini-parks.
The parklets will be in place for six months.
