New Book Provides Little Known Details About Roebling Suspension Bridge
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge: A Full and Complete Description has just been published by the Little Miami Publishing Company.
The book provides the fascinating details on the construction of the bridge, including the anchorages, towers, and cables. It originally appeared in 1867 and was written by E.F. Farrington (1820-98) who worked with Roebling on the construction of the bridge.
Don Heinrich Tolzmann, historian for the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee, has edited this little known work as a contribution to the forthcoming 150th anniversary of the Suspension Bridge in 2017. He has also added supplements about Roebling and a guide to historic sites relating to Roebling, his son Washington, and the Covington-Cincinnati Bridge Company.
The Foreword is by Paul A. Tenkotte, Professor of History and Director of the Center for Public History at NKU.
Several book signings with Don Heinrich Tolzmann have been scheduled for the new book:
