Iconic Fort Mitchell Building Restored, Developers to Be Honored
The City of Fort Mitchell will be recognizing Wayne Stephens, Dr. Ryan Olexia, and Alex Edmondson with the first ever community investment award for devoting significant time and resource in revitalizing the building located at 2497 Dixie Highway and enhancing the local business climate.
This ceremony will be held at the city building on July 18 at 7:00 p.m.
“These gentlemen have made a significant impact upon the look and feel of the retail scene at one of Fort Mitchell’s most significant commercial areas," said Mayor Jude Hehman. "The iconic structure at the corner of Orphanage Road and Dixie Highway once again has an appealing structure that has spurred additional redevelopment that include façade improvements, giving the area an exciting new look. We would like to express our gratitude by recognizing them at our next meeting."
This building was constructed in 1940 and has housed various businesses over the past several decades. Edmondson and Stephens jointly purchased the building in 2014 and decided to renovate the structure. The ground floor of the building is occupied by W Stephens Cabinetry and Design which offers planning and design services for the entire home and also Ft. Mitchell Veterinary Clinic operated by Dr. Olexia.
“Being a small part of what is about to happen on the Dixie Highway’s most iconic strip was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. We want to thank the City of Ft. Mitchell and our new found neighbors as they patiently waited for us to finish our part in a city that is just beginning to undergo its over main street renaissance,” said Edmondson.
The building owners are waiting with a selective eye to ensure that the last 1,000 square feet is acquainted with a perfect partner that they hope serves the loyal Ft. Mitchell residents for another 75 years.
