Dayton Police Officer Injured in Morning Crash

A Dayton Police officer was taken to the hospital after his cruiser was struck by a driver near Riverside market Wednesday morning.

According to a witness, a driver turned on to Sixth Avenue and hit the cruiser.

The officer was taken to the hospital, the witness said.

Dayton Police Chief David Halfhill later reported that the officer is fine. "Officer Schierloh is doing fine, just a bump on the head," Halfhill said on Facebook. "Thank you all for your concerns and prayers. It's well appreciated!"
