Man Suspected in String of NKY Robberies Now Behind Bars
The man accused in a string of Northern Kentucky robberies - including one that was caught on surveillance video and shared on social media - is now behind bars.
Steven Thomas, 35, was arrested by Erlanger Police on Wednesday afternoon.
On Friday, he allegedly walked into the Shell gas station on Buttermilk Pike in Ft. Mitchell and calmly told the clerk to hand over all the money in the register. Video from that incident showed a frightened clerk obeying the suspect who spoke relatively softly while appearing to be armed.
He was dubbed the "Shirt Mask Bandit" in media reports and is accused in robberies that took place in Ft. Mitchell, Covington, Ft. Wright, and Florence.
Thomas is being held without bond and is charged with first degree robbery and a parole violation. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Kenton County District Court on Friday morning.
