Hebron Crash Kills Two from Louisville
Two men are dead after a single vehicle crash in Hebron on Saturday night.
A 2013 Dodge Dart with four people inside went off northbound North Bend Road near River Road (KY Route 8), according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office. The vehicle was driven by Rama Varahabhatla, 35, when he failed to navigate a turn and the Dart left the roadway, became airborne, overturned, and struck a tree in a nearby embankment.
A passenger in the backseat of the vehicle, Benkat Prashant Kommu, 27, was ejected and died at the scene. A front seat passenger, Raja Sakar Reddy Yarmala, 25, was entrapped in the vehicle and was extricated by Hebron firefighters. He was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he died early Sunday morning.
Varahabhatla, the driver, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with non-life threatening injuries. Another backseat passenger, Anvesh Kumar, 24, was entrapped and extricated from the vehicle as well. He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All four individuals are from Louisville.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office's accident reconstruction unit is investigating the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
