The smash Broadway musical Hamilton will play in Cincinnati!
But fans of the musicalized story of early American Alexander Hamilton will have to be patient. Broadway in Cincinnati announced that the show is coming to town, but not until the 2018-19 season.
In the announcement for the new 2017-18 season, released Monday, Broadway in Cincinnati said that season ticket holders will guarantee themselves a spot in the audience when Hamilton: An American Musical finally arrives.
The shows coming to town in the upcoming season are also wildly popular in their own right.
Wicked, another darling of Broadway and popular tour in town that serves as a sort of prequel to The Wizard of Oz, will be back as a season extra from September 13 to October 15.
Finding Neverland, the story of how Peter became Pan, will play a short run, November 17-19.
A Christmas Story: the Musical, based on the classic 1980s film, plays December 5-10.
Waitress, based on the 2007 film, runs January 9-21, 2018.
School of Rock, with music by legend Andrew Lloyd Weber, and based on the 2003 film, will play February 21 to March 4, 2018.
Chicago, the Broadway classic, is back in Cincinnati March 20-25, 2018.
The King and I, another Broadway classic, also makes a return appearance April 10-22, 2018.
Disney's Aladdin brings the giant genie and magic carpet to town May 29 to June 10, 2018.
The Book of Mormon, the riotously funny send-up of the Church of Latter Day Saints by the creators of South Park, will be back July 31 to August 5, 2018.
