Bakery Coming to Latonia
The site of the famed Latonia Bakery will be a bakery once again.
Emerson's Bakery will take over the 3612 Decoursey Avenye space, the Latonia Business Association announced Friday.
"This is a great development for the community," said Rick Kennedy, who owns the building. "Emerson's is a first-class bakery operation with a first-class owner, who was even an employee at the original Latonia Bakery in this same location." The owner is Cecil Emerson.
The previous occupant, Bernhard's Bakery, was forced to close when that bakery's Monmouth Street location ran afoul of the City of Newport and the Northern Kentucky Health Department.
Covington Mayor Joe Meyer welcomed Emerson's - which has four other locations including two in Florence, one in Erlanger, and one in South Covington - to Latonia.
"We're glad to have you back home," Meyer said in the announcement. "We're truly excited to have this addition to the Latonia business community."
Emerson's Bakery is expected to open for business in Latonia in March.
