Truck Smashes Dayton Store's Entrance
Workers were busy Thursday afternoon repairing the entrance to Hansman's Corner Market & Deli after a truck crashed through it earlier in the day.
Dayton Police got a call at around 8:30 a.m. after the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into the store at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Clay Street. The crash was an accident.
"The driver's boot got stuck between the gas pedal and the brake," said Dayton Police Lt. James Baldwin. "He was unable to stop before striking the building."
Baldwin said no one was hurt.
Hansman's has had a run of misfortune in recent years, suffering serious damage from a pair of fires in the summer of 2014. Thursday's accident was mild by comparison.
Baldwin said the driver of the Silverado is a regular customer at the store and that no one was hurt. "I think the driver stops every morning," he said.
No charges were expected.
