New Principal Named at Bellevue School; Students Honored
Grandview Elementary's new principal was named at last week's meeting of the Bellevue Board of Education.
Angie Young was selected by the school's site-based decision-making council. She spent the past twenty years at Campbell County Schools where she served as a teacher, staff developer, and assistant principal at elementary and secondary schools.
Young is currently assigned in an Advanced Placement position at Crossroads Elementary in Cold Spring.
Superintendent Robb Smith said that aside from Young's professional accomplishments, what stood out in her interview was her positive attitude and her obvious love of the students. When asked what her top priority would be, Young answered immediately that she wanted to build relationships.
The remainder of her interview showed Young to be an educator that is reflective, hard working, and compassionate toward both children and adults, Smith said.
Young takes over at Grandview in the 2017-18 school year.
The board voted to establish the summer meal program, which will begin on Monday, June 5, and end Friday, July 28. The program will take place at the Bellevue High School's cafeteria, and there will be two meal times, 7:45 to 9:45 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to noon for lunch. Adults can eat for $4. There will be no meals on Monday, July 3, or Tuesday, July 4, but on all other weekdays breakfast and lunch will be served.
The board also voted to renew the audit contract for Barnes, Dennig and company, LTD at a cost of $14,800.
The Me and My School program, which is held over the summer, was funded for its second year.
Attendance for the year was 95.44 percent for the district.
Students from both the elementary and the high school were commended for community service this month.
