Florence Firecrackers: Police Look for Suspect Who Caused Scene at Mall

Word spread fast Tuesday after loud noises erupted in the food court at the Florence Mall.

Florence Police took to social media to alert citizens that there were no gun shots, and that the disturbance was caused by a man with firecrackers.

The original call to police indicated that shots were fired at the mall, which was placed on lockdown.

Once inside, witnesses told officers that it was a man letting off firecrackers. After the noise, the suspect ran out of the mall. No one was injured.

That story was confirmed by watching surveillance video.

The suspect, who has not yet been arrested, is described as a black male with a stocky build in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a pink shirt, gray shorts, and white tennis shoes.

If you have any information on his identity, contact Florence Police Detective MattĀ Raniero at 859.334.539 or [email protected].
