Child on Bike Killed in Latonia
A child is dead in Latonia after he was struck by a vehcile while riding his bike.
Covington Police and Fire responded to 32nd Street just east of Decoursey Avenue late Friday afternoon where the child was pronounced dead.
The boy was identified by a local football coach as Eli Kindt.
His small bike lay on the curb as investigators collected evidence and talked to witnesses.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
Christopher Wells, 45, of Cincinnati, is lodged in the Kenton County Detention Center where he is charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid. He will be arraigned on Monday morning in Kenton District Court.
Detectives responding to the scene located the suspected vehicle and two occupants at the Latonia Shopping Centre, just south of where the fatal collision took place. Police said Friday night that they are still investigating why the vehicle fled the scene.
