Season Ticket Sales Soar for NKU Basketball
Season ticket sales are flying out the door at Northern Kentucky University.
The Norse athletics department reported this week that the men's basketball team's success last year - including the Horizon League Tournament championship and first NCAA Tournament berth in its Division I history - is prompting the increased interest.
“The community of Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region has certainly taken notice of the rapid development of our men’s basketball team at the Division I level,” said Ken Bothof, Director of Athletics. “It has truly been remarkable to see our men’s basketball program flourish at a time when our fan base continues to expand. We hope that our men’s basketball program and fan base continue to grow together as NKU becomes one of the premier mid-major programs in the country.”
Year-over-year growth in season-season ticket sales has eclipsed 66 percent and, as of Monday, stood at 1,155 for the 2017-18 season. Approximately 93 percent of last year’s season-ticket holders renewed for this year.
Norse Nation laid the groundwork in March and April, following NKU’s NCAA Tournament appearance, for the season-ticket sales success. During that time, fans made early deposits that equated to 93 percent of Northern Kentucky’s 2016-17 season ticket sales total.
“Our fans’ response to the team’s success this past season has been an awesome sight to see,” said Micki Ford, Coordinator of Athletic Ticketing. “The response and positive support is unlike any I’ve seen before. It’s been a pleasure to work with all of our current and new season-ticket holders and, I can’t wait to work with more as the season nears.”
In addition to season-tickets, which are still on sale, mini plans and single-game tickets are also now available for purchase.
Two options exist for mini plans, Vic’s Six Pack (six games for $60) and Black & Gold Pack (4 games for $40).
Single-game tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for youth ages 3-17. Purchasing in advance is encouraged to ensure sitting in the lower bowl. The best sections are filling up quickly, especially for NKU’s marquee matchups with East Tennessee State, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Oakland and Green Bay.
