Pursuit Starts in Southgate, Ends in Crash, Drug Charges in Cincinnati
A man is behind bars after a police pursuit that started in Southgate ended across the Ohio River in Over-the-Rhine in a crash that injured a pregnant woman in the car and a pedestrian on the street.
Keith Johnson, 34, is charged with drug abuse, possession of drug abuse instruments (syringes), and driving under suspension.
What prompted the chase in Southgate is unclear, but Johnson reportedly ended up in Cincinnati, going the wrong way on Main Street before crashing into a wall at around 6:30 p.m.
Margo Milton, 22, a pregnant woman in the vehicle driven bu Johnson, was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center in stable condition. Kathryn Debrosse, 55, was taken to the hospital after she was struck by the vehicle while walking her dog.
Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach tweeted a photo with details about that part of the chase.
Our neighbor was just hit by a car walking her dog. Happened when car being chased by police went into sidewalk. Hope she’s ok. pic.twitter.com/3GBaCamAze— Chris Seelbach (@ChrisSeelbach) October 24, 2017
WLWT reported that excessive speed was a factor in the crash but that driver impairment was not.
