Hoover Hospitalized for Heart-Related Issue
Just days after stepping down as Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives, State Rep. Jeff Hoover (R-Jamestown) is in the hospital.
“A member of Rep. Jeff Hoover’s family has confirmed that he was admitted to a hospital for testing due to a heart related issue. At this time, his family requests that their privacy is respected until further information is available," said State Rep. David Osborne (R-Prospect), who is now acting Speaker.
Hoover stepped down after it was revealed that he and three other state representatives, including Dry Ridge Republican Brian Linder, settled a sexual harassment claim with a female staff member at the legislature.
He was the first Republican Speaker in the Kentucky House in nearly a hundred years after the GOP won the lower chamber following the 2016 election.
The Associated Press noted, Hoover’s father, Welby Hoover, died in 1986 shortly after being elected to the House of Representatives. Welby Hoover died before he could take office. Hoover’s mother, Mae Hoover, won the special election to replace her husband in the legislature and served one term.
