Two Couples Honored with Newport Central Catholics St. John Baptist de la Salle Awards
Two couples were honored at the Newport Central Catholic Winners' Circle.
Scott and Jane Grosser, and Denny and Margie Kehoe were given the St. John Baptist de la Salle Award.
The Kehoes, both 1959 graduates, are lifelong supporters of Newport Central Catholic, dedicating time, talent, and treasure to to the school, a news release said, and they have seen children and grandchildren pass through the halls.
For many years the Kehoes were active in both the Athletic Boosters and Mothers Club.
Scott and Jane Grosser have been avid supporters of Newport Central Catholic and Catholic education, sending all of their children through the educational process on The Hill and Diocesan Grade Schools. Scott graduated in 1982.
The couple have served on numerous boards and committees for the school. While serving as chairs of the gala committee, the Grossers led efforts for fundraising including one year in which the event surpassed $100,000.
Recently, they have headed efforts with others from the Grosser family to create a vision to transform our Science Labs.
The St. John Baptist de La Salle Award was established to honor and recognize those who take part in extensive stewardship in the mission of Newport Central Catholic. The award is named after St. John Baptist de La Salle who left his extremely wealthy family to dedicate his life to the mission of the church and education of children.
La Salle eventually founded the order of Christian Brothers who for many years served as teachers and leaders of our school community.
