For 40th Anniversary, Oriental Wok Gets Own Day in Kenton County
Celebrating forty years in business, Oriental Wok was honored this week with a proclamation from the Kenton County government.
County Commissioner Jon Draud presented a proclamation to Mike and Helen Wong, proprietors of the popular restaurant that has locations in Ft. Mitchell/Lakeside Park and Cincinnati's Hyde Park neighborhood.
In 1972, the Wongs lived in Hong Kong with their two young daughters, Susanna and Angela, when Mike Wong received a job offer in Cincinnati.
In 1977, the family opened Oriental Wok to share the Chinese culture - one meal at a time.
The Wong family now includes Guy Burgess and Travis Miller, husbands of the Wongs' daughters, and four grandchildren.
Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann proclaimed Tuesday, December 12 to be Oriental Wok Family Day in Kenton County.
