New Group Offers Support for People Raising Other People's Kids
There is a new local group to provide free support for those raising children that are not their own.
Relatives Raising Relatives and Others meets every month in the morning and evening, with a variety of topics covered during the meetings such as behaviroal issues, parenting skills, and navigating the judicial system.
The next upcoming meetings are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11.
The morning session at 10:30 a.m. will be held at the main branch of the Boone County Public Library (1786 Burlington Pike, Burlington). Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The evening session will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Florence Christian Church (300 Main St., Florence). Dinner will be offered, starting at 6 p.m.
Sessions will also be held in March, May, and July.
Relatives Raising Relatives and Others is supported by a variety of local organizations. Financial support for the program comes from the Mayerson Foundation and the Scripps-Howard Foundation.
