McDonald Leads NKU to Win at Youngstown State
Drew McDonald led Northern Kentucky to its second straight win Thursday night, 95 to 85 at Youngstown State.
McDonald added 26 points and 16 rebounds on his long list of double-doubles this season.
With the win, NKU is now 16-7 overall and 9-2 in the Horizon League. With Wright State's loss at Cleveland State, the Norse are now tied again with the Raiders for the top spot in the conference.
Carson Williams bagged 19 points, Tyler Sharpe added 15, Mason Faulkner scored 12, and Lavone Holland II put in 11 for the Norse.
The game was close midway through the first half. Northern Kentucky led Youngstown State (6-18, 4-7) 63 to 61 with 13:22 to play but an 11 to 1 run gave the Norse a comfortable lead. The Penguins would get back within five but could not overcome the deficit.
Northern Kentucky has won five straight road games in the conference.
Next up for the Norse is a Saturday afternoon date at Cleveland State (6-18, 3-8). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
NKU women fall to #20 Green Bay
Northern Kentucky's women's team fell to #20 Green Bay, 58 to 41 on Thursday. NKU was led by Molly Glick with 13 points.
NKU falls to 5-17 overall and 3-8 in the Horizon League.
