Boys Basketball Scoreboard: Scott Wins a Close One, Simon Kenton Falls
The Scott Eagles used a jumper from Trey Meister in the closing seconds to prevail over host Mason County in the opening round of the 10th Region tournament on Thursday night.

It is the second straight season that Scott (22-9) ended the season for Mason Co. (17-14) in the opening round of the regional. Last year, the Eagles won the tournament and made a Cinderella run to the semifinals of the Kentucky Sweet 16.
Also in the 10th, Paris ended Pendleton County's season, 51 to 50.

Paris and Scott will face off on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals. Campbell County and George Rogers Clark will meet at 6 p.m. in the other semifinal game.
In the 8th Region, Simon Kenton's season came to an end at the hands of Gallatin County. Gallatin moves on to play Oldham County on Monday in the semifinals. Anderson County plays South Oldham in the other semifinal.
In the 9th Region, the games were not as competitive on Thursday night. Covington Catholic blew out Saint Henry, 64 to 21 and will play Cooper on Saturday night. The defending champion Jaguars had no trouble with Newport Central Catholic, 74 to 60. Dixie Heights and Holy Cross will play in the other semifinal on Saturday.
