College Basketball: NKU, Thomas More Women Advance; Saints Men Fall
There were mixed results for Thomas More as the women moved on and the men were knocked out of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
In Detroit, meanwhile, the Northern Kentucky women's team advanced out of the first round of the Horizon League Tournament.
On the men's side, the Saints traveled to University Heights, Ohio to face John Carroll and were run out of the gym 95 to 72.
Ryne Callahan and Simon Clifford led Thomas More with 13 points each.
Thomas More's season ends at 23-6.
On the women's side, the #3-ranked Saints had no trouble with Ogelthorpe, in a game hosted in Crestview Hills, winning 84 to 58.
Thomas More is now 27-1 on the season and will play Juniata on Saturday.
Madison Temple led the Saints with 19 points. Abby Owings added 15 while Nikki Kiernan put in 14 and Shelby Rupp scored 12.
In the Horizon League, Northern Kentucky's women's team, seeded #8, got by #9 seed Detroit Mercy, 76 to 61. The Norse advance to play top-seeded Green Bay, a team NKU shocked in Highland Heights with a big upset not long ago.
Northern Kentucky (9-21) was led by Kailey Coffey and Taryn Taugher who scored 20 points each. Mikayla Terry added 11 for the Norse.
NKU faces Green Bay on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
