Baseball: Northern Kentucky Stuns #6 Kentucky
In baseball action on Wednesday, Northern Kentucky stunned 6th-ranked Kentucky in Lexington.
The Norse won 8 to 6, improving to 3-9 on the season.
UK dropped to 12-2.
NKU's Jake Richmond hit a grand slam, and Chad Roberts hadded a home run, a double, and two RBI in sealing the win.
Sam Williams picked up the win on the mound, pitching for five innings, giving up just three hits and two runs, and striking out five Wildcat batters. Joe Martin earned the save.
UK's Troy Squires hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to bring the Cats within two. Kentucky had the tying run at the plate but Martin struck out the final two batters in sealing the win.
The victory is NKU's second over a ranked team since moving up to NCAA Division I. The first win also came against Kentucky when the Wildcats were ranked 12th in 2016.
Next up, the Norse visit Miami, Oh. for a 3-game series this weekend, with two games in Oxford and one game in Highland Heights.
