Mother, 9-Year Old Son Dead in Burlington Shooting
A mother and her 9-year old son have been identified as thr victims in the Wednesday morning shooting in Burlington, the Boone County Sheriff's Office reported.
Deputies responded to an apartment community on Peoples Lane at around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report that two people had been found dead in one of the units.
Kelli Kramer, 31, and Aiden Kramer, 9, were dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The sheriff's office said that the investigation is early and that deputies are working to determine exactly what happened in the apartment. The case is being investigated as a double homicide.
Kramer was an employee of the Starbucks coffee shop in Florence. Aiden was a 4th grade student at Burlington Elementary School. Boone County Schools issued a statement: "We are devastated to learn of the tragic death of our student, Aiden Kramer. There will be counselors available to the students and staff of his school to help them deal with this tragedy. Because this case is under investigation there will be no further information coming from the school district at this time. All information related to this case will be released through the Boone County Sheriff’s Department."
