Line Forms at Florence Toys R Us - but Liquidation Sale Delayed

The parking lot was already filling up and a line formed outside the Toys R Us location in Florence as eager shoppers looking for deals awaited the start of the national toy store chain's liquidation sale.

But as the doors opened at 10 a.m. on Thursday, signs and an employee told prospective bargain hunters that there was no liquidation sale yet, that the court system had not finalized the bankrupt company's liquidation papers, and that there was no information on when a sale would start.

Toys R Us locations across the country were set to begin their liquidation sale on Thursday, but a spokesperson for the New Jersey-based company told CNN will now likely start on Friday.

A quick trip around the Florence location by The River City News showed a normal-looking store with a relatively healthy inventory. Many shoppers were in line to make purchases in spite of the lack of a sale price.

One expert told CNN that the liquidation would go quickly because most stores have not received any new product in several weeks and popular items will fly off the shelves.

This story will be updated when more information is known.
