Luhn Named Director of Basketball Operations by NKU Coach Brannen

Jake Luhn, a longtime assistant coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball, is the new director of basketball operations at Northern Kentucky, head coach John Brannen announced.

“I can’t tell you how excited we are to welcome Jake, his wife Jodi, and their children, J.J., John, and Julia,” said Brannen. “Getting the opportunity to bring someone with the experience and expertise as Jake really signifies how much our program has grown.  Jake will provide an intense work ethic, great basketball knowledge and perspective that will continue to strengthen our staff.”

Luhn most recently served as associate head coach at Longwood University in Virginia, where he spent five years on staff. He was the first hire for Jayson Gee when Gee took the helm of the Lancers’ program in 2013. At Longwood, Luhn was involved in every aspect of the program, from recruiting, scouting and player development to scheduling, community outreach, fundraising and monitoring academic progress for Lancers’ men’s basketball student-athletes.

He developed a reputation as an impact recruiter and served as the primary coach for the wings, a news release stated.

Luhn worked with Gee at St. Bonaventure in New York, where Luhn spent time as the director of operations from 2003-06 before being named an assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. Between his stints with the Bonnies and Lancers, the Melbourne, Florida, native served as CEO of LifeStyle Home Builders, Inc.

A 2002 graduate of UMASS Boston, Luhn was a three-year letterman and two-year captain, earning a degree in exercise science and physical education. He also earned a master’s of business administration in 2004 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
