Unlock the Block Music Festival to Return to Latonia
The block will be unlocked again.
The Unlock the Block music festival returns to Latonia on Saturday, July 21, from 5 to 10 p.m.
Last year, the festival debuted at Ritte's Corner as a project of Leadership Northern Kentucky.
Organizers called the event "a tremendous success," so the Latonia Community Council and the 2017 Leadership NKY class are bringing it back.
The festival will feature bands DV8, the Drysdales, and White Liger, all of who perform rock covers.
“We are beyond excited to bring this amazing event back to Latonia,” said Danny Greene, co-chair of Unlock the Block 2018 and member of LNK 2017. “It was only minutes after DV8 finished their set last year that we knew we had done something special and that we had to do it again.”
Since the streets were filled with visitors last year, new Latonia businesses have been blooming up and down the streets. Recent additions such as Warrior Wellness, Latonia Herb Shop, Curated Art and Design, Moonrise Donuts, and the expansion of Bard's Burgers have helped the community grow.
“Having Unlock the Block again helps continue the momentum of what the Latonia community has been working so hard to accomplish,” said Jordan Stephenson, owner of Bard's Burgers. “It shows neighbors and businesses working together.”
With over 5,000 in attendance at last years Unlock the Block, this year’s festival aims to be bigger and better than ever.
Currently the event committee is seeking sponsors and vendors for this event. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Billie McDaniel at [email protected].
