Brent Spence Bridge Damage Forces Lanes, Entrance Ramp to Close
UPDATE: All lanes on the bridge reopened at around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
This story has been updated. The closure is now expected to be through Tuesday morning.
Part of the Brent Spence Bridge is closed Monday afternoon and is expected to remain so through Tuesday morning.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet - District 6 Office said Monday that an expansion joint is damaged.
The entrance ramp to the bridge from Fourth Street in Covington as well as the right two lanes are closed, and will be so while the repairs are made.
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, the Cabinet said.
Repairs are being made to avoid possible damage to vehicles traveling over the bridge, the Cabinet said. The structural integrity of the bridge is not affected. KYTC engineers will pursue a permanent solution after a more thorough inspection and temporary repair is in place.
