Jury Recommends 35 Years for Covington Killer

A man was convicted Thursday of first degree manslaughter and attempted murder.

A Kenton County jury then recommended a 35-year prison sentence for Demondre Rolandus Williams, 21.

He was found guilty in a double shooting that happened on 13th Street in Covington last August. Antonio Bandy, 25, was killed and Marcus Broaddus was shot.

For the death of Bandy, the jury recommended a 20-year sentence, and for the shooting of Broaddus, it recommended a sentence of 15 years. Both would be served consecutively.

The conviction was announced by Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders who prosecuted the case with assistant prosecutor Joseph Hill.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for September 24 in the courtroom of Kenton Circuit Judge Gregory Bartlett.
