$100,000 Powerball Winner Sold in Newport
Someone who bought a lottery ticket in Newport is $100,000 richer.
The Kentucky Lottery announced that a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000 was sold at the Kroger store at Newport Pavilion.
The ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball to win.
The prize usually pays $50,000 but the player chose to spend an addition $1 for the Power Play feature, which multiplies any winnings on the ticket (with the exception of the jackpot and second prize) by the Power Play number drawn.
The winning numbers from Wednesday's drawing were 12, 15, 28, 47, 48, and Powerball 16. The Power Play was 2.
The Kroger store will receive a $1,000 bonus.
The winner, who has not been identified, is encouraged to sign the back of their ticket. The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
Saturday's Powerball jackpot is $50 million.
