$26,000 Stolen When Armored Car Driver Robbed at Newport on the Levee

More than $26,000 was stolen from a driver for Brinks was robbed at an ATM at Newport on the Levee.

It happened Friday morning.

The armored car driver was in the process of emptying the ATM when he was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects grabbed a bin of cash and ran off, past the AMC movie theater ticket booth, and away from the Levee, according to Dennis McCarthy of the Newport Police Department.

The police department released photos of the suspect, as seen at the top and bottom of this article.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
