WATCH: Candidates for Bellevue City Council Debate Issues
The ten candidates vying for six seats on the Bellevue city council faced off in a candidates forum co-hosted by the Bellevue Neighborhood Association and The River City News on Tuesday night at Bellevue High School.
With Steve Brun running for the open mayor's seat, at least one seat will be filled by a newcomer.
Incumbents Steve Guidugli, Rodney Poynter, Carol Rich, Ryan Salzman, and Dave Slater are all seeking re-election. They are joined in the field by challengers Terry Hatton, Sean Fisher, Pat Hogan, Shauna Kruse, and Scott Witte.
Brun and his mayoral opponent Charlie Cleves offered remarks on their candidacies prior to the forum.
For the council candidates, the issues ranged from the city's handling of development projects such as the riverfront and Marianne Theater, and the role of historic preservation in the city, to placemaking issues and tax rates.
