New LGBTQ Bar The Birdcage Sets Opening Date
The newest LGBTQ bar in Cincinnati is set to open.
The Birdcage Bar & Lounge is located at 927 Race Street, former home of Shooter's Bar, a popular country-themed gay bar that closed in 2016.
The new enterprise is owned by Juan Imeroni, owner and operator of Gypsy's in Covington's Mainstrasse Village, as well as O'Malley's in the Alley, The Blind Pig, and Lola Coffee in Cincinnati. He is also co-owner of The Butcher and Barrel and Che.
The Birdcage will be managed by Guy Ulam, former general manager of LGBTQ Cincinnati nightclub Adonis, which closed in 2012.
The new downtown bar was renovated to make way for The Birdcage, with a refinished floor, new paint, up-cycled decor, an eclectic collection of art and furniture, TVs, new lighting, and a new sound system.
The Birdcage will open on Friday, October 26. Opening night will feature music and entertainment by DJ Patrick B from 8 p.m. to close, and appearances by drag queens Mirelle Jane Divine and Alana Reign. Divine will host the regular drag show Menagerie.
Doors open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 - which will mark the first of regular Sunday tea dances.
The Birdcage will operate Tuesday through Sunday.
